In early February, 2012, Haskell headed to LMU for two days of workshops with students, focusing on film lighting techniques and documentary filmmaking. In Production Department Chair Charles Swanson’s class, moving from the standing set in LMU’s studio, they took over Studio Operations Administrator Frank Hughes’s office for a scene. On behalf of the Institute, Haskell worked at Cal State Northridge, engaging students in discussions about the film Latino: The Director’s Cut. John Schultheiss of CSUN was very pleased with the interaction with the students on many aspects of filmmaking. In accordance with the purpose of the Institute for Cinema Studies, Haskell continues to teach guest workshops at colleges and universities across the country.
